Blueberries, acai, avocado - every week there's a story of some miracle food that cuts the risk of everything from an itchy scalp to lung cancer, and often dementia is mentioned in such a way. However, how much of this is actually based on solid research?

Last week I noticed an article saying that Maisieberries had been 'proven' to slow cell decay in the brain of those at risk of dementia by up to 50%. I was sceptical to say the least, so took a look at the journals that were quoted....
